Iseyin cries out for police return to town

The people of Iseyin, the headquarters of Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State, have cried out to the federal government to reinstate the police personnel to curb incessant criminal activities in the town.

In a communiqué issued at the end of a community meeting held at the palace of the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Dr. Abdulganiy Adekunle Salau, it was stated that Iseyin is confronting series of challenges ranging from security and economy as a result of non- availability of police personnel in the local government.

“It was established that lives and properties were not secured and in recent times all commercial banks were closed down for the fear of hoodlums’ attacks.

“The community, under the leadership of the Aseyin, appealed to Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and  the federal government in general to come to their aid so that personnel of Nigeria Police can resume work without delay.

“It was registered that the community has renovated reasonable numbers of the vandalised buildings to accommodate Nigeria Police, while promising that the main building would also be done soonest,” it stated.

The community leaders assured of their readiness never to allow the bad eggs to thwart their efforts aimed at developing the town again.

They stressed that those arrested in connection with ENDSARS protest that resulted to vandalization of offices of security agencies across Iseyin local government were having issue to settle with government but not Iseyin community.

“we are appealing to the Federal Government to help us and ensure that men of Nigeria Police are brought back to resume work at Iseyin Divisional Police Headquarters,” they emphasised.
