Gateway Games: It’s been fun, Ogun Deputy-gov affirms

Since the crowd-pulling 22nd National Sports Festival officially kicked off inside the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, 10 days ago, Ogun State Deputy Governor, Alhaja Noimot Salako-Oyedele has been a regular feature at games venues.

After her return from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Summit in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, she continued her routine yesterday watching swimming events at the MKO Abiola Arena.

Salako-Oyedele was in her cheerful best infectiously clapping for the contesting swimmers to the admiration of other spectators, some of whom were seeing her at a close range for the first time.

She remarked that the atmosphere was lively and peaceful, living up to the design of the state government to record the best sports festival in history.

“I enjoyed the swimming competitions and had the honour of presenting some medals,” she revealed.

After the morning session, she was back at the arena and took her seat inside the stadium where she also relished the track and field events. She watched shot put, 200 metres, Semi finals (Male and Female), 400 metres finals (Men and Women), 400m wheelchair (Men and Women) and 400 metres (deaf Men and Women) races.

Shortly after the Deputy-Governor had left the arena, she remarked excitedly, “If you haven’t been to the games, you have only three days left. You wont regret you did. It’s been fun.”
