Abandoned road: Olowu Kuta hosts Buratai for bridge commissioning

Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama

All is set in Owu-Kuta, Osun State as the Olowu of Owu-Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama will play host to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai on the occasion of commissioning of a bridge on September 14, 2020.

The Tabloid.net gathered that the road on which the bridge, connecting Kuta, Ikoyi and Ede, was constructed, had been abandoned for over 100 years.

Confirming the news, Oba Makama generously applauded General Buratai for mobilizing Nigeria Army Engineering Regiment Corps, Ede to undertake the project to break the age-old jinx.

“My forefathers have been on this project for more than 100 years until General Buratai-led Nigeria army finally broke the jinx. He is our hero whose name has been written in the history of the three towns. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. God bless and strengthen the Nigeria Army. God bless my dear State of Osun,” the monarch prayed.

Oba Makama called on Nigerian public to show compassion to the army in their efforts to tackle the insecurity challenge, which, according to him, the nation is confronting, also urging Nigerians to rather appreciate the enormous sacrifices made by the army on daily basis.
He expressed his dismay at negative comments against the army, saying those comments easily demoralize the soldiers.
“Insurgency is not a tea party for any nation. Tackling it needs absolute concentration and support of the public. I just hope that one day we shall know the importance of what I am saying. Patriotism says we should encourage our people on national assignment but what we do in this country is unfortunate,” he said.
