The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State Chapter has redeemed the pledge they made to the Shooting Stars Sports Club captain Omololu Waheed.
The Chairman of SWAN in Oyo State Mr Niyi Alebiosu had, on Saturday 12th March 2022 at a special breakfast meeting held by the Ibadan Football Association, promised, on behalf of the Association, to give the captain of Oluyole Warriors a cash gift of ten thousand naira as reward for his good leadership which aided the return of the team to NPFL last season.
Mr Alebiosu fulfilled his promise on Sunday shortly after the NPFL Matchday 19 game in which 3SC pipped Nasarawa United by a lone goal.
The dark skinned SWAN numero uno in Oyo State presented the cash to Omololu Waheed at the pitch side track of Lekan Salami stadium in Ibadan.
Presenting the cash to 3SC Captain, Mr Alebiosu said the action was borne out of Oyo SWAN leadership’s desire to motivate the team.
“We in Oyo SWAN see ourselves as stakeholders in the 3SC project. I believe we should not just limit ourselves to watching and reporting the team. We are going a step further by encouraging them in any capacity. This is our own little way of lifting the players’ spirits up. And I know that Omololu is good leader, motivating him will make him spur on his team”, Oyo SWAN Chairman said.
