Oyetola hosts June 12 lecture in Osogbo

Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola will lead members of his executive to a lecture commemorative the June 12 Democracy Day in Osogbo, the State capital.

The Tabloid.net gathered that leadership of the Civil Societies coalition in the state were in collaboration with the government in ensuring a successful lecture and procession at the Aurora Event Centre, Ring Road, Osogbo.

A Statement signed by Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties , Engineer Olalekan Abdulrahman Badmus confirmed that members of public were invited to participate in the celebration.

Badmus recalled that the State Government of Osun started the celebration of June 12 as Democracy day before the Federal Government declared the day as national holiday in honour of Chief MKO Abiola who lost his life in custody while struggling to reclaim his mandate as the widely acclaimed winner of June 12,1993 presidential election.

He added that the Oyetola-led administration would continue to deliver on its mandate to the people and in addition would continue to encourage all and sundry to promote democratic ideals aimed at deepening civil rule in Nigeria.

The first Vice-chancellor of the Osun State University, Professor Sola Akinrinade, Badmus said, would be guest speaker.

“Former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo SAN is chairman. The Ogiyan Of Ejigbo ,Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin is billed to be the Royal Father of the Day,” he added.
