Before and during the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival hosted in Ogun state, Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaja Noimot Salako-Oyedele has proved a beautiful complement to Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, in terms of sharing one passion, which is their genuine love for sports and sports development.
Her pre-festival visual promotion welcoming Nigeria to her state depicts her as a professional advertising figure, even though before her voyage into political water, she was an engineer with an enviable profile.
It was an inspiration to behold also watching her moving from one sports centre to another, cheering up players like a regular spectator addicted to sporting activities.
Her presence at the Baptist Boys High School, Saje, Abeokuta venue of boxing matches was infectious. On her seat, she shared with the boxing officials, she potrayed a coach desperately hungry for a win through her spontaneous reactions to punches and movements in the ring. After she had endured the fierce exchanges exhibited by the youthful boxers, she remarked, “Let me just say, boxing is definitely not for the faint-hearted.”
Salako-Oyedele was also at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, the host ground for Wheelchair basketball, Para-table tennis and chess where she freely interacted with the athletes and said to them words they needed to believe more in their talents and ability to make it in life. She took pictures with two outstanding chess players who are aged 11 and 12 and national team players.
Back to Abeokuta, she had a stop over at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, joined spectators, watched a Beach Volleyball match, and also preached friendly encounter between the two teams.
Apparently impressed by the reception extended to her by the officials, Salako-Oyedele said, “I commend them and all the hardworking officials for the excellent organisation and seamless coordination of the match ”
The Deputy Governor added, “Kudos as well to the spirited spectators who showed up in their numbers to cheer on the athletes. Your energy truly brings the Festival to life!”
Jocularly, she revealed, “I’m working hard on securing my gold medal; for spectatorship! A big well done to the officials and organisers for putting together such a well-run and inspiring competition.”
Finally, to her principal, who has invested his physical energy and resourcefulness into the festival, she said, “Kudos to our Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun (CON) for the vision and foresight to champion this incredible fusion of sport, culture, and tourism.”
