New dawn in Ibese as new monarch given staff of office

Ibese, Yewa North Local Government of Ogun State, today, played host to Ogun State Government officials, traditional rulers, chiefs and dignitaries from different parts of the state and beyond.

The people converged as witnesses to the presentation of staff of office to the new Aboro of Ibese, Oba Oluwarotimi Oluwaseyi Mulero, a former officer of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC).

Permanent Secretary of the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Kolawole Fagbohun performed the presentation on behalf of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun in a relaxed ambience followed by thunderous hail of ‘Kabiyesi o’.

Regaled in a modest ofi fabric cut in agbada, Oba Mulero ended about five years interregnum created by the passage of the immediate past Aboro, Oba Joel Bamgbose who was said to have reigned for 59 years.

The Olu of Itori, Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo was among royal fathers who complemented Oba Mulero at the occasion.

Oba Akamo noted, “it was another historic occasion and I do hope the Kabiyesi would live up to expectations. Obaship is a call to serve people. The Palace of nowadays is expensive to run, unlike what obtained in the days of our forebears when things were brought to the palace. We spend more on our town and people now. I wish him all the best in this new journey.”

Ibese is host community to the Dangote Cement Plant through which indigenes have reportedly gained employment among other benefits of the company’s presence on their soil.
