Gani Adams proffers solution to nation’s problems

The Aare ona kakanfo of Yoruba land, Gani Adams has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to use regionalism to solve various security challenges in the country.

While receiving newly appointed leaders of a Pan-Yoruba group-Voice of Reason-at his Omole Phase 2, Lagos residence today, Adams affirmed that Nigeria had lost the battle to secure the country from terrorists.

He added that the formation of the Southwest Security Stakeholders Group (SSSG) was in response to the prolonged security challenges bedeviling the region, maintaining that the security group was always ready to secure the region.

Aare stated further that the visit by the leadership of VOR was in response to the growing concern of prominent Yoruba sons and daughters and other well-meaning Nigerians on the security quagmire across the South west region.

“I want to thank the leadership of VOR, a group of prominent Yoruba sons and daughters comprising intellectuals for this meeting. From their history,VOR has been consistent in promoting the ideals of true federalism”, he said.

Chairman of the group, Otunba Olusola Adekanola, said the meeting with the Yoruba leader was aimed at proffering lasting solution to the security challenges in the South- west.

Adekanola restated that the Yoruba group was concerned about the protracted security challenges, saying regionalism remained the only solution to tackling the myriads of security challenges in the region.

The VOR chairman expressed worry that the region is becoming volatile and admitted that the role of the Aare ona kakanfo of Yoruba land, in intelligence gathering and surveillance, could not be taken with levity, adding that the group would continue to partner with the office of the Aare on issues of true federalism, insecurity and most importantly unity of the Yoruba race, which, he said, could help in securing the South west.
