How my mother made me governor-Oyetola

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola has attributed his current status to his late mother.

Governor Oyetola made the revelation few hours ago in Iwo while making remark at the eighth-day fidau prayer for the late Princess Suebat Amope Akanbi, mother of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi.

He said his mother was fond of right behaviour to his father, an attitude which, he noted, rewarded him with blessings of life, especially his current height as the governor of Osun State.

“Even in the absence of my father, my mother would still kneel down to put food on his table. I later realised that she was doing those things to buy blessings for me,” he recalled.

Clad in white agbada, the governor admonished the youths to also take care of their mothers as well as their fathers.

“Though my father is very old now, you will find him reading Quran and praying,” he also said.

In his speech, Oba Akanbi commended Governor Oyetola for honouring his pre-election promises of rehabilitating Osogbo-Iwo road and supporting the choice of Iwo as the site for the Federal College of Education.

“With all these, we are indebted to the governor. Iwo people are indebted to you, and we are going to pay our debt with continued support for your government. You should also consider all I have also been doing since I came to the throne as a debt to you. God will help you to pay it back with service to this town. I am on the throne to serve you, and that is what I have been doing,” he noted.
