I’m humble by turnout at my investiture-Oba Makama

Hours after his investiture as the Life Patron of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) Osogbo chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama is still in a state of bliss on account of class of guests who attended the event in his honour.

Oba Makama said the turnout had challenged him to be more conscientious in his both public and private relationship. “I was caught off guard by the roll call of distinguished personalities who came to Ile Awiye and witnessed that occasion. I felt honoured having them,” he said.

Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode was on the list of Osun State Government officials at the colourful event, which also had in attendance traditional rulers, including the Olu of Ile-Ogbo, Oba Habeeb Adetoyese Agbaje and Kuta indigenes.

In his statement of gratitude, Oba Makama thanked Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Republic of Benin, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd), Major General K.I Yusuf, Brigadier General S.K. Usman (rtd).

“I also appreciate The Director State Security Department, Osun State Command, The Command Ecr Brigadier Gen Yakubu, Honourable Commissioner for Information, Mrs Funke Egbemode, Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr Lekan Badmus, Special Adviser Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs, Mr Rasak Adeosun, Honourable Shakirat Adeoye, Honourable Dayo Fashola, Honourable Otunba Mukaila Oladejo

“The Deputy Chief Whip, honourable Gbenga Ogunkanmi, Prof Oguntola Alamu, Dr Ayantunji, PRO UNIOSUN, Owu Kuta youths and elders, the Olowu-In-Council, my own constituency, all members of state council of obas present, members of network of kings, the Igbo council of Ezes, Arewa representatives, the Onadeko twins, My in-law honourable Teslim Igbalaye, the state correspondence chapel, state NUJ exco, and others,” the statement read.

Sharing the historic moment with the Olowu, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrasheed Ayotunde Olabomi congratulated Oba Makama and described him as a round peg in a round hole, adding that the NUJ made a good choice in him.

“I can attest to it that the OSBC Chapel of the NUJ made a right choice in him, as regards Kabiyesi’s long and fruitful relationship with the media. What else should one expect other than this deserved honour?,” Oba Olabomi asked rhetorically.
