‘I’m a miner but not owner of Bodija building and explosives ‘

The man, widely alleged to have warehoused the explosives that blew up Dejo Oyelese Close, Bodija Housing Estate, Ibadan on January 16, 2024, Alhaji Sawane Youssouf has washed his hands off the incident.

In a statement he personally signed today, Youssouf admitted that he is a legitimate miner with operational base in Oyo State, insisting that his business is conducted
according to the provisions of the constitution.

He said, “though I live in Ibadan, I have never rented or owned a house at Dejo Oyelese Avenue, Bodija Ibadan, where the incident happened. I also don’t have anything to do with the explosives that led to the huge loss of human lives and the collateral destruction of property at the scene of the incident.”

Youssouf, thus, appealled to the Oyo State Government, law enforcement agencies and other appropriate authorities to beam their searchlight further to reveal the identity of the real owner(s) of the building and the destructive explosives.

He expressed his readiness to present himself to the security agencies with a view to helping them in their ongoing investigation.
