Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP), Ifagbemi Awamaridi, has debunked the raging rumour that an erstwhile Governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode had joined the party.
The chairman, while speaking with journalists in Lagos on Thursday, confirmed that Ambode is still an active member of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC)
The Tabloid.net gathered that before Awamaridi’s clarification, there had been unproven indications that Ambode had dumped the APC for the Labour Party to slug it out with other candidates in the 2023 Gubernatorial elections.
It was learnt that the former governor was the toast of many users of the micro-blogging platform, Twitter, after the claim was circulated to the space.
But a source close to Ambode also clarified that “he (Ambode) is a bona fide and committed APC member who will work for the success of the party’s candidate at the state and federal levels.”
Ambode has disappeared from the political radar after losing out to the incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwoolu in 2019, in a grand plot allegedly approved by the former Governor of the state, Bola Ahmed Tinubu .
