Married women and extra marital affairs

She entered into her marriage with high hopes and big plans for the future. Just like every other woman, she wanted a beautiful home and marriage. She became disappointed and disillusioned just a few months into matrimony. Her husband, a man she dated for over six years, became a total stranger. He became someone else. All the plans and promises evaporated just like that. She thought giving birth to their baby girl would change the situation, but it became worse because her husband who loved children did not even care about their daughter.

She prayed and begged God. Her friend, who she shared everything with, told her to be patient as things would turn around.
In the midst of trying to sort these out, her mother-in-law came around and her presence didn’t help matters. She added to her pain and at a point she started regretting her marriage.

She didn’t ask for a loveless marriage; she felt lonely and neglected and she needed a shoulder. She needed someone to confide in. Her mum, who would have been all these to her, passed on a few months into her marriage.

It was at this time that she met Frank. He had come from her company’s headquarters in Germany to supervise a new project in the country. Frank is the friendly, easy-go-lucky type. He has sharp eyes and could read people like black and white.

They were to work together and she was the one saddled with the responsibility of showing Frank around and working together on the project with him. Frank made working together easy because of his easy-going nature and by the time they worked closely for three weeks, he could tell she had something bothering her.

He asked her several times and when she couldn’t hold back any longer, she shared with him what she was going through in her marriage.
It was at this point that their relationship changed. Both of them couldn’t say they knew what or how it happened but they started a relationship which, of course, took her mind off the trouble-filled home front and it was becoming serious.

Despite the fact that she found a shoulder in Frank, she felt guilty and scared at the same time. She has been eaten up by guilt despite the excitement of doing something behind the scenes.

When she couldn’t hold it in any longer and, of course, they were wrapping up their project and it was almost time for Frank to return to Germany, she decided to open up to her friend.

Of course, her friend was vehemently against what she was doing, as two wrongs wouldn’t make a right, and she also asked her what happens when Frank returns to Germany – would she look for another man? The question remains: is the situation at home enough to push her into extra-marital affairs?

This question came up for discussion and the majority of those who spoke stated that more married women today are engaging in extra-marital affairs. Is it just a trend or is there more to it?

Before we answer this question, I received feedback on last week’s topic from a friend who read it on my status. The long and short is that there is nothing bad in a woman greeting her husband on her knees, but of course the man must first create the atmosphere for such and also appreciate his wife.

I think the above can also answer today’s question.
My opinion: As much as adultery is wrong and totally out of it, a man should make his wife feel loved and wanted. Take care of her and, of course, both of them should work at making their marriage work.

An average African man is polygamous in nature and the society frowns at a woman who engages in such; yes, we know, but Gen Z is saying no! What is good for the goose is good for the gander, they say, but what happens to the moral compass?

Husbands, love and respect your wives and take care of them. Like I stated earlier, the couple have a responsibility of making their marriage work.
