A striking point in career growth of the recently promoted Commissioner of Police, Lanre Sikiru Bankole is his long stop-over in Ogun State Police Command where he worked in different capacities as divisional police officer in Abigi, Sango, Agbara and Owode Egba, and as Shagamu Area Commander.

Today, he is back in the state but as the numero uno of the command.

In a release by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a deputy superintendent of police, Bankole succeeded Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, who had retired from service.

According to the PPRO, Bankole, a Lagos Islander, is a graduate of English and Law from the University of Lagos and the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye. He was enlisted as a cadet assistant superintendent of police in March 1990, and has worked at Akwa-Ibom Police Command, Ebonyi State Police Command, Port Authority Police Command.

“He was one time the assistant commissioner of police, port CID at Port Authority Police Command. When he was promoted to the rank of deputy commissioner of police, he was posted to Interpol section of FCIID Abuja as DC Admin and investigation from 2017 to 2020.

“He got promoted to the rank of commissioner of police in June 2021 and was posted as CP Interpol Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Alagbon Lagos, where he served until his current appointment as the new commissioner of police Ogun State Command,” he said.

Oyeyemi added that the new CP had attended professional courses within and outside Nigeria, notable among of which include junior command course, intermediate command course, strategic leadership and command course at Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State.

He is said to have also attended financial crime course at Administrative Staff College (ASCON), Badagry as well as United Nations Logistics Officer’s Course at Koffi Annan Peace Keeping and Training Centre, Ghana.
