‘Cancer is real, prevention, detection save life’
Her recent lecture in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, titled “Women Who Thrive: Building A Healthy Life From The Inside Out”, spontaniously warmed her into the hearts of her audience who saw a life-saving angel in her presence in their midst. Her hosts rewarded her brilliant presentation with an award and generous words, all of which left her speechless. Princess Seyi Oyewale, a U.S.-trained nurse, psychologist, healthcare leader, and global health professional, is living a life of impacts, idenfying problems and promptly proferring solutions. Her over three decades in practice have evidently complemented her advanced degrees in Nursing, Psychology, and Business and her Certificate of Achievement in Global Health Care from Harvard University. From the US, she brings extensive international healthcare expertise home, improving healthcare delivery, mentoring professionals, empowering communities, and advancing patient-centered care. In this interview with TheTabloid.net, she declares that bringing quality, compassionate, evidence-based healthcare closer to the people, is her incurable passion. Excerpts
As Founder and Chief Medical Director of Amen Houston Hospital & Fertility Medical Centre in Ibadan, can you shed more light on what the centre stands for?
We provide leadership in fertility care, maternity, oncology, hospice and palliative care, home healthcare, emergency services, and comprehensive medical care.
Can you also share with readers details of your passion?
I am very passionate about oncology, fertility care, palliative care, global health, nursing education, and community healthcare development. I was also selected, alongside my private hospital sector, as a stakeholder in a prestigious research initiative examining delays in cancer care across Oyo State, Kano State, and Nairobi, Kenya, involving the Public Health Department of University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, and international collaborators.

My passion for fertility care is also shaped by my personal testimony of overcoming years of infertility before becoming a mother of four. My journey continues to inspire my commitment to restoring hope and supporting families navigating infertility.
Aside healthcare, what other area do you have passion for?
I am an inspirational, motivational, and health speaker on leadership, wellness, women’s health, faith, toxic relationship and community development. I am also passionate about mentorship, professional development, and creating opportunities for emerging healthcare professionals.

I am the author of the inspirational phrase “My Pain, My Praise,” reflecting my message of faith, resilience, healing, and transforming life’s challenges into purpose and testimony. I am a devoted mother, healthcare leader, mentor, and woman of faith. I am committed to healing, empowering, educating, and transforming lives through excellence, compassion, integrity, and service.
Can you look back and reflect on the journey of the centre?
The journey has been challenging but rewarding. We have grown from a vision into a healthcare centre providing general Medical- Surgical care, diagnostics, fertility and maternity services, home healthcare, mental health support, oncology, hospice and palliative care, with HMO/NHIA engagement.
What are the challenges?
Our major challenges include healthcare financing, infrastructure, power supply, and changing the mindset of patients that accepts treatment without proper medical assessment and investigation from their previous hospital. We follow protocols strictly on our facility.
A peep into the future, what do you see, in terms of prospects?
Our vision is to expand and strengthen Amen Houston Hospital & Fertility Medical Center into a centre where international healthcare standards meet affordable Nigerian care, while improving early detection, prevention and compassionate treatment.
Have you a piece of advice to public on Healthcare?
Don’t wait until you are seriously ill. Cancer is real. Prevention, early detection and proper diagnosis save lives. Seek qualified healthcare professionals, get appropriate investigations before treatment, avoid self-medication and routine injections without proper assessment, and take your health seriously.
