The Olori Omoba K1 has won the admiration of a teeming lovers of peace for his intervention in the feud between Otunba Alabi Pasuma and Taye Currency as contained in a video uploaded on social media.
The erstwhile allies were recently at loggerheads, consequent upon which their loyalists and fans engaged in hot exchanges of words aimed at establishing superiority of each side’s claim.
However, K1 a few days ago hosted Pasuma and Currency separately in his palatial Ijebu-Ode residence where he preached peace to his guests and also enlightened them on why the duo should bury the hatchet.
TheTabloid.net gathered that the truce was a joint effort of K1 and Alhaji Ayinla Kollington. In Pasuma’s appeal to his fans at a live performance, he confirmed that Kollington was also instrumental to the reconciliation and explained that it would amount to a taboo to turn deaf ears to these elderly musicians he emphasised he holds in high regards.
While some fans of both sides expressed their reservations on the reconciliation based, according to them, on Currency’s threat to reveal some secrets, a UK-based fuji music analyst, Asiwaju Ademola Adesigbin, however, welcomed the new peace.
Adesingbin applauded fuji leaders for their role in nipping in the bud what looked like a threat to the once elusive unity of the genre.
“On this whole saga of Paso/ Currency, kudos must be given to Mayegun , K1 the ultimate for living up to expectations of what he promised his mentor, Dr Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, that he would keep intact the kingdom of Fuji music after the demise of the founder of the genre. On this occasion K1 really delivered perfectly,” he said.
Another fan of fuji, Mr Taiwo Akinlade, advised Currency to use the crisis as a test of his status among fuji musicians and their fans. Akinlade, who claimed to having followed Currency’s career for about 20 years, cautioned him against temptation that could push him against other senior fuji musicians.
“I expect him to know now that he is under surveillance, being watched. He should not make controversial comments. He might not be this lucky next time. He should thank Mayegun, who seems to show affection to him,” Akinlade opined.
In the course of the battle, a fuji musician who emerged from the flame was one called Tiri Leather, also called Olubadan Fuji.
The Ibadan-based Pasuma sing-alike stuck to his benefactor and fired as many salvos to the direction of Currency to the extent that he harvested fans at every show. But he has also sheathed his word and mounted a stage where he declared a ceasefire but maintained his total loyalty to Pasuma.
