Ekiti abduction: four suspects rounded up

Ekiti State Police Command,  in conjunction with military and other security agents, have arrested four suspects who allegedly abducted eight people at Itapaji Ekiti in Oye- Ekiti  Local Government Area of the state.

A release by Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu  on Wednesday read: “In view of the recent abduction of eight persons at Itapaji axis of Ikole-Ekiti, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police had earlier deployed tactical team that comprises the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the Anti-kidnapping Squad, the Safer Highway and the SIB to engage in a joint operation with the Military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, the Amotekun and local hunters with the aim of rescuing the victims and apprehending the perpetrators.”

It revealed, “This joint operation has yielded positive result as four suspects have been arrested so far in connection with the abduction.”

The command further informed that the suspects had since been moved to the State Headquarters for further interrogation and investigation while the joint operation would continue.

It implored public to supply timely information to the Police to assist in rescue of the abducted and also charged residents to remain calm, assuring that the command would do everything possible to rescue the victim and apprehend the culprits in the course of their efforts.

It would be recalled that eight people were abducted at Itapaji in Oye Local Government Area of the state yesterday which caused palpable apprehension among the residents particularly the passengers on the Ikole Ekiti axis to the Northern part of the country.
