Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, has partnered with the Nigeria Police to ensure an effective policing.
Alli is the Chairman, Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs and member of several other committees, said the collaboration is part of his efforts to support the police force.
A release by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Akeem Abas indicated that Alli had donated a borehole to Mokola Divisional Police Headquarters.
Other items he donated included a generating set, a 3.5kva Inverter together with Solar panels and other accessories to the Sango Division.
The gesture, he said, is not only a testament to his commitment to developing his community but also his appreciation for the role of the police in ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
“The borehole is expected to provide a sustainable water source for the officers at the Mokola Police Station and it’s environs. It is no secret that many police stations in Nigeria are plagued by a lack of basic amenities, and clean water is not an exception,” he noted.
He further said that the items would go a long way in improving the living conditions of the police officers and their families, adding that the three solar inverters donated to Sango would ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
The senator lamented the fate of many police offices in Nigeria relying on generators, which are not only expensive to maintain but also tend to break down frequently.
He said that the 3.5kva Inverter together with Solar panels would save costs and reduce its carbon footprint.
The senator’s gesture has been received with overwhelming admiration by the communities.
Residents have praised his commitment to developing the community, and the police force has also commended him for his support.
Unanimously, they remarked, “it is not often that you see politicians partnering with the Police to ensure effective policing, Senator Alli’s intervention is indeed a step in the right direction.”
The residents called on other political leaders to emulate the senator’s gesture and support the Police, saying “the role of the Police in ensuring the safety and security of citizens cannot be overemphasized, and it is only fair that they are provided with the necessary support to carry out their duties effectively.
