Sheik Afonta’s death, a shock, Osun SSG laments

The Secetary to the Osun State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye has described the demise of the Chief Iman of Afonta Central Mosque, Osogbo, Sheik Afonta, as a shock.

Afonta passed on in the early hours of Saturday, 16th Dec, 2023 at the age of 70.

In a statement signed by Igbalaye Media Aide, Mr Kehinde Adeoye, he also described the late Afonta as a selfless man who until his death touched lives through his teachings.

“I received with great shock, the passing of a revered religious scholar, the Chief Iman of Afonta Central Mosque, Osogbo, Fadilat Sheik Abdul Wahab Banni.

“Baba Afonta was a devoted humanist, who selflessly lived to serve the people expecially through his various islamic teachings and admonitions. Baba’s stern belief in the principles of social responsiveness,” he said.
