Osun LG funds seizure and the soul of democracy

By Engr. Shakbab

What we are witnessing in Osun State today is not mere politics, it is a naked dance of tyranny in the marketplace of our democracy. The Federal Government, through the Minister of Finance, the Accountant General of the Federation, and the Attorney General of the Federation, has committed an abomination against the Nigerian Constitution by paying our local government allocations into personal accounts open by men whom the courts of law have already swept away as political dust.

This is not governance; it is treachery against the people and rule of law itself. It is a dagger thrust into the chest of the rule of law. The courts have spoken, the judgments are clear, yet these men in Abuja have chosen to spit in the face of justice, to defy the sacred gavel of the judiciary, and to trample on the will of the people of Osun with reckless arrogance.

This is an assault not only on Osun State but on every Nigerian who believes that justice must mean something. When some individuals disobeys courts, they declare war on the nation’s soul. When those who swore to defend the law become the very lawbreakers, the nation stands at the edge of a dark abyss.

The Attorney General cannot play God. He cannot set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal with the stroke of a pen. The Minister of Finance cannot turn public funds into private loot to be shared among sacked politicians. The Accountant General cannot pretend that court orders are mere suggestions.

Their collective actions are a slap in the face of the Constitution, a dishonour to those who fought for the country’s democracy, a betrayal of their oaths, and a direct challenge to the conscience of the nation.

We must rise not with violence, but with unbreakable resolve. Let the voices of Osun thunder from every corner: from the markets, from the mosques, from the churches, from the palaces of our traditional rulers. Let Abuja hear us loud and clear: this illegality shall not stand.

This plot to provoke anarchy, to plunge Osun into crisis so that a state of emergency can be declared, has failed and will continue to fail.

The people of Osun are wiser than that. We know the game. We see through the deception. We will not let our state become a playground for political scavengers.

To the international bodies, bear witness. This is how democracies die not with the roar of guns, but with the quiet signing of illegal papers and the silent defiance of court orders. Today it is Osun; tomorrow, it could be your state, your court, your vote.

President Tinubu must act not as a party chieftain, but as the father of the nation that he is now. He must call his men to order before their actions consume the very fabric of our democracy. The nation is watching. History is watching. Posterity is watching.

Osun will not kneel. Osun will not bow. We will hold the line for justice, for democracy, for Nigeria. And by the grace of Almighty God, the forces of illegality shall stumble, and the truth shall stand tall.
