End of road for fleeing suspects, vehicle somersaulted, land in hospital

At Ode-remo, Ogun State, luck betrayed a gang of suspected armed robbers who escaped into what was described as a ghastly auto-crash with a stolen Toyota Camry which they had snatched at gunpoint in Ondo State.

TheTabloid.net gathered that the incident occurred on June 19 2021 when a police team from the Ogun State Command ran into the scene and promptly effected the arrest of the suspects who were escaping to Lagos.

They were said to have driven dangerously during which the vehicle hit a culvert and somersaulted, leaving them with varying degrees of injuries.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a deputy superintendent of police, the suspects were rushed to hospital by the policemen from Ode Remo Divisional Headquarters.

Oyeyemi said the Divisional Police Officer of Ode-remo Division, Fasogbon Olayemi, a chief superintendent of police, received the information and quickly ordered their arrest in the hospital.

“The owner of the vehicle, who came all the way from Ondo State, explained that, he was accosted on the road by a gang of five men dressed like policemen, and that he was dragged out of the car at gunpoint and the vehicle was taken away.

“One of the suspects, identified as Emeka John later died while receiving treatment. The remaining two, namely: Sunday Emmanuel and Idris Ibrahim were ordered to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department by the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, for onward transfer to Ondo State Command where they would be prosecuted,” he said.
