At point of ransom

Yesterday, all was set to harvest fruit of their sweat, which had brought tears to Ajibili’s family. They had looked forward to that moment when a sum of N1,000000 would land in their hands. That is amount placed on head of a seven-year old Daniel Ajibili to become a free boy again.

Ajibili had earlier in the day fallen into their ambush when he was out of house on errand for his mother, who would later receive a strange call, demanding the amount as ransom for her son’s freedom.

At the other end of the phone was the duo of Muhammed Abubakar, 42 and Clinton Niche, 18 both of whom are said to have been interrogated at Agbara Area Command, following their arrest at point of collecting the ransom.

TheTabloid.net gathered that father of the victim, Stephen Ajibili had reported the incident at the command and updated the police with telephone exchange earlier had with the suspects.

Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a deputy superintended of police, confirmed and stated further that the abductors demanded for the sum of one million naira, consequent upon which a team of detectives were mobilized to go after the suspects.

Oyeyemi said, “the acting area commander Agbara, CSP Kayode Shedrack, quickly mobilized his detectives to embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation to unravel those behind the dastardly act.

“The efforts of the detectives paid off when the suspects who had directed the victim’s parents to drop the ransom money somewhere were ambushed and apprehended by the police detectives. The suspects subsequently led the policemen to a bush where the innocent young boy was tied to a three by his abductors.”

He added that the gang was made up of three members, including one who was in charge of the victim to ensure he did not escape.

“Having discovered that his two accomplices have been arrested, he took to flight immediately. Meanwhile, the acting Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, a deputy commissioner of police, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to anti-kidnapping section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.

“He also directed that the fleeing member of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice within the shortest possible period,” he said.
